"Denkoku-no-Mori (museum)" was born as museum, culture facility in Yonezawa-shi, Yamagata on September 29, 2001. In this facility, prefectural "Okitama (Okitama) culture hall" and two of municipal "Yonezawa-shi Uesugi Museum" were performed go* of. In the building built adjacent to citizen's oasis "Matsu-ga-saki Park", element of Japanese style architecture including "deep sunshade" and "thin colonnade" is taken in in modern building in pursuit of the constitution beauty, and harmony with neighboring sceneries is considered. Other than hall and museum, we establish "large meeting room" on the second floor of building and we make venue of society and reception and are available. In addition, we install information library and on-site training room, cafe corner and museum shop.

Origin of the name "Denkoku-no-Mori"

Name "Denkoku-no-Mori (museum)" (forest of body not to appear) comes from "Denkoku-no-ji" (denkokunoji) which ex-Yonezawa feudal lord "Yozan Uesugi" (yozan) left as knowledge of feudal lord. In contrast with first "Kenshin Uesugi who won fame as war-torn country military commander," Yozan (before name "Harunori (spring paste)") that Yozan was "excellent politician", and it was feudal lord of Yonezawa feudal clan at young age 17 years old rebuilt finance of feudal clan which inclined and did people wealthily by developing industry and was person that "there were both thought and the executive ability" who was earnest for education for the next generation. "Denkoku-no-ji" was "speech for feudal lord" (politician), but we inherited mind of Yozan "which we left for people and told and did wealthily", and it was name "Denkoku-no-Mori (museum)".
